SHAUNACY KING, RP

Kate Greed, sex and couples therapy, evenings and weekends

Are you wondering how you have come to this difficult experience?  That is the place to start!  Whether you are experiencing increasing feelings of anxiety or have little to no desire for sex, I often hear from clients that they don’t know why “this” is happening or how they got to “this” point.  By exploring your current experiences and the roots of your concerns, we can better understand “this” and work together to develop strategies that support your goals.  The roots of our issues can be excavated, and through therapy, we can rotate the soil and plant new seeds.  Blooming in your sexuality, your relationships, and in your life is possible!

As your therapist, it is important to me that you feel heard and that we work as a team to ensure your counselling experience is designed with achieving your goals in mind.  You are the expert in your life, and, well, I bring the knowledge of sex, relationships, and trauma therapies!  Pairing those together creates an opportunity to build new experiences woven with healing, confidence, and excitement for your journey ahead.  This is your experience every step of the way, and I am here to affirm and support your growth.

With over twenty years of supporting clients through reproductive and sexual health experiences, I understand the diversity and the individuality of pain, discomfort, confusion, and fear. My professional journey led me through international clinics and hospitals as a professional support person, eventually leading me to attend Yorkville University for my Masters of Counselling Psychology.  Through my academic experiences, I have been able to pair my love for supporting others with the foundational knowledge of therapy, moving towards becoming a Registered Psychotherapist in Ontario  (RP 11756).

Prior to becoming a therapist, I developed and directed a Canadian company that trained other support persons, specifically in perinatal, reproductive, and sexual health.  Through that experience, I developed one of the first support-related programs specific to perimenopause and menopause in the world!  It is now exciting to see midlife experiences growing in popular discourse, and I continue to create content and advocate alongside other counsellors, educators, and coaches for empowerment amongst 40+ populations!

In my downtime, I am chasing a great cup of coffee and catching a countryside sunset.  My children and I are avid travellers and enjoy a day paddleboarding or snowboarding.  Cuddly things (pets, kids, socks) are listed among my top 10 “must-haves,” and if we add a strong laugh with friends, I believe I’ve created a wonderful day.
