So, sex doesn’t look like it does in the movies for you? Your body isn’t cooperating. You can’t keep your mind in the game. You’re unable to enjoy yourself the way you want. Maybe you avoid sex all together. You wonder: “What is everyone talking about when they say sex is great? What am I missing?” You worry: “If I really loved my partner, if we were really compatible, we wouldn’t be having sexual problems.” You ask: “Maybe I’m sexually broken?”

As my client, you will feel truly seen, heard, and understood, knowing that you’re not alone in your journey. I use humor to lighten the therapeutic process, making it a bit less daunting while assuring you that we won’t shy away from exploring emotions, as they are essential for growth. Together, we’ll delve deep into the underlying causes of your concerns, ensuring that we address them at their core. Ultimately, my goal is to get fired! That’s how I know I’ve done my job – when you have the skills to “graduate” from therapy.

My educational journey led me to complete my Master’s and PhD in clinical psychology at Queen’s University, followed by a clinical residency at the Vancouver Coastal Health Authority. During a postdoctoral fellowship at UBC, supported by Prostate Cancer Canada and the Michael Smith Foundation for Health Research, I pioneered psychological interventions for men with primary erectile dysfunction and couples dealing with post-prostate cancer treatment challenges. I also contributed to the BC Center for Vulvar Health, aiding women with genito-pelvic pain. I spent 5 years working at Kingston Health Science Centre, where I establisehd a multidisciplinary program aimed at the management of chronic pelvic pain experienced by men and women (read about it here). My research has been recognized nationally and internationally, with numerous academic honors during my graduate training.

Now I am the Founder and Executive Director of the Tri Health Clinic, established in 2018. I serve as Adjunct Faculty at Queen’s University in the Departments of Urology, Gynecology, and Psychology. In my clinical practice, I focus on research, evidence-based sex therapy development, and and training the next generation of sexual health clinicians. My clinical and training interests revolve around utilizing evidence-based treatments like cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), emotion focused therapy (EFT), and mindfulness-based sex therapy (MBST) to enhance sexual health for individuals and couples alike.

Outside of the clinic, I enjoy snuggling with loved ones (human and fur-covered, alike), dabbling in arts and crafts, yoga, reading sci-fi novels, travelling, or simply spending time by the water.
