Dr. Jenn Bossio is a clinical psychologist in the practice of Clinical and Health Psychology. She is the founder and director of the Tri Health Clinic, a group practice in Kingston that focuses on sexual health. She also works at the Kingston Health Science Centre, where she developed and runs a multidisciplinary program aimed at the management of chronic pelvic pain experienced by men and women (read about it here). She is Adjunct Faculty at Queen’s University in the Departments of Urology, Gynecology, and Psychology.
Dr. Bossio completed her Master’s and PhD in clinical psychology at Queen’s University, and her clinical residency at Vancouver Coastal Health Authority. She completed a postdoctoral fellowship at UBC, which was funded by Prostate Cancer Canada and the Michael Smith Foundation for Health Research. While in Vancouver, Dr. Bossio developed and evaluated psychological interventions aimed at improving the sexual lives for men with primary erectile dysfunction, and couples following prostate cancer treatment. She also worked at the BC Center for Vulvar Health, a multidisciplinary program aimed as using science to support women with genito-pelvic pain.
Over the course of her career, Dr. Bossio has published and presented widely in the field of sexuality, both nationally and internationally. Her research program has earned her multiple academic honours and awards throughout her graduate training. Dr. Bossio is especially recognized for her ground-breaking studies on the sexual correlates of neonatal circumcision.
Dr. Bossio is deeply passionate about research, development of innovative, evidence-based sex therapy treatments, and training the next generation of clinicians in the field of sexual health. Presently, her clinical and training interests focus on improving sexual health for men, women, and couples using evidence-based treatments, such as CBT, acceptance and commitment therapy, and mindfulness-based therapies.
When she’s not working, you will find her snuggling with loved ones (human and fur-covered, alike), dabbling in arts and crafts, yoga, snowboarding, travelling, or simply spending time by the water.
