You look at your life, and find that something feels off. Maybe your sex life is not what you imagined it would be. Or you’re not feeling fulfilled in your relationship/s. You know what’s important to you – connection? intimacy? adventure? family? – but something prevents you from living life to the fullest. Perhaps anxiety, low mood, self-criticism, or shame get in the way. Or you’ve faced a stressor or health issue that has brought new roadblocks. You may have even been on autopilot for so long, being the kind of person you “should” be for others, that you don’t know exactly who you are anymore.
As my client, you will feel a safe space to be your true self. I will be here to understand you – where you’ve been and where you’d like to be headed – and to guide you towards the life you want to build. You may already have an idea of what changes you’d like to make, or perhaps you’d like to explore together what meaningful change could look like for you, in your life or relationships. I am here to meet you wherever you are at, without judgment, and to support you – with compassion and expertise – in working towards your goals.
I completed my Master’s and PhD in clinical psychology at Queen’s University. This training included supervised clinical experiences in diverse areas such sex and couples therapy, gender diversity, chronic pain, mental health, and insomnia. I pursued a clinical residency in health psychology at Nova Scotia Health, where I worked in areas of oncology, chronic pain, and transplant. I have also pursued training in emotion-focused couples therapy. I have remained deeply passionate about sexuality, and I now apply a wider skillset in health psychology and couples therapy to my work as a sex and couple’s therapist.
I have an active research program focused on sexual health and relationships. This includes research on sexual response, sexual functioning, and couples’ coping with sexual difficulties or changes such as the transition to parenthood. Outside of my work at Tri Health Clinic, I am a Postdoctoral Fellow at Dalhousie University, where I study factors that promote couples’ sexual and relationship wellbeing. My research has been recognized nationally and internationally with academic publications and numerous awards and honours.
Outside of the clinic, you will find me enjoying time outside, riding my bike, travelling, or visiting with loved ones.
